Omeprazole tablets are a medication used to treat GERD. Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). PPI medications block the action of stomach acid and help to relieve symptoms of GERD, such as heartburn, an upset stomach, and regurgitation.

               

 

Omeprazole tablets are usually taken once a day, with or without food. They should be swallowed whole, with no breaks in between. Do not chew them, and do not crush or chew the pills. You can take them with water, orange juice, sodas (with calcium carbonate), light beers (1 to 2 cups per day), rice cakes and other pastries that are low in sugar and fat.

 

 

There are several side effects that can occur as a result of taking omeprazole tablets. The most common side effects include: abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting. Other side effects may also occur, but they are less frequent.

If you experience any of the following symptoms while taking omeprazole tablets, please consult your healthcare provider immediately: bloody stools or fever over 38°C (100°F). If these symptoms continue for more than 72 hours or if they become severe, please see a doctor again.

If you experience any other adverse effect while taking omeprazole tablets, discontinue the medication and contact your healthcare provider immediately.
