Lightning Warning Protection System Structure

The lightning warning protection system consists of 3 parts: a lightning warning device, an automatic control unit, and remote monitoring. The structure of the lightning warning protection system is shown in Figure 1.

As can be seen from Figure 1, the lightning warning device consists of a probe, a host computer, and a UPS, whose role is to detect lightning signal changes; the role of the automatic control unit is to change the signal of the host computer of the warning device and control the opening and closing of the low-voltage power line circuit breaker switch, which is an independently developed product.

The remote monitoring part is composed of the signal interface, network bridge, network switch, transmission line, and PC terminal, whose role is to transmit the lightning change signal and the open/closed status of the low-voltage power line circuit breaker switch to the PC terminal of the communication monitoring room and to realize the remote operation of the system at the PC terminal of the communication monitoring room.

Lightning Warning Protection System Work

In 10~30 minutes before the lightning comes (time adjustable), the lightning warning device alarm output control to make the circuit breaker switch off to realize the isolation of 380 V low voltage line and microwave station room.

When the lightning disappears within 10 to 30 minutes (time adjustable), the lightning warning device will output control making the circuit breaker switch close to restoring the AC power supply to the server room. power supply.

The system work is sent to the duty room of the regional communication center (communication dispatch) through remote monitoring.

The battery discharge capacity of the alpine microwave communication station is generally configured for 48 h (2 groups of 500 Ah), and the power consumption of the lightning warning protection system is very small (DC voltage -48 V, currently less than 1 A), which is negligible compared to the total load of the microwave station equipment. When lightning occurs frequently, the microwave communication station will be in the battery-powered state for a long time (generally not more than 12 hours), so the battery can guarantee the normal operation of the equipment after the lightning warning system is installed in the microwave station.

Only when the circuit breaker of the lightning warning system fails to close automatically, or when the battery is in a critical state of discharge for some reason, the circuit breaker of the lightning warning protection system can be forced to close remotely through the monitoring terminal of the communication center room system to restore the AC power supply of the microwave station.

Lightning Warning Protection Technical Parameters

(1) Lightning Warning Device

The detection radius should be greater than 15 km, the alarm threshold 2 to 4 kV/m adjustable (all-weather), the outdoor probe working temperature range -20 to +50 ℃, with the standard industrial interface, data transmission in line with TCP/IP network protocol, system software for Windows environment.

(2) Control Unit

The switch opens when the atmospheric electric field exceeds the set value; the switch closes when the atmospheric electric field is lower than the set value. The neutral point insulation fault switch opens.

(3) Circuit Breaker

Rated voltage 600 V AC, rated current 80 A, short circuit current 10 times the rated current, number of phases 3 phases + neutral, control voltage 12/24 V DC, insulation withstand voltage 80 kV, insulation distance 100 mm, number of operations greater than 50 000 times.
