The India electric rickshaw motor and controller market is experiencing a growth, and this trend will continue in the years to come as well

The growth has a lot to do with the increasing count of e-rickshaws on Indian roads and surge in average age of e- rickshaws. Apart from this, low cost of operations than auto rickshaw, and advantage over cycle rickshaw does wonders for the industry

Due to the support of the government of India, the adoption of these vehicles in India is increasing day-by-day.

Battery rickshaws are the most sold in the country. These are considered a better substitute to cycle rickshaws, as they are reasonably easy to operate and need no human power for propulsion.

Also, they are less costly and have low operating cost than the traditional auto rickshaws. These factors brought about a growth in the demand of battery-powered rickshaws and its motor.

Aftermarket and OEM are the two main users of e- rickshaw motors. The requirement of these motors has been more from OEMs as compared to the aftermarket.

Delhi had the largest share of the market of motors of e-rickshaws in the past, because of increased sales of e- rickshaws in the national capital, increased since the year 2013.

Also, because of the increasing air pollution, the government of the state in 2016 declared a subsidy of USD439.6 on the purchase of e-rickshaws, which has brought about to the increased use of these vehicles in Delhi, further powering the motor market for e-rickshaws in the state.

Controllers dominated the industry in terms of value and volume. Delhi dominated the market for controllers in total volume. Though, UP will become the largest contributor in the near future, leaving the national capital behind.

The industry has all the potential to grow at a rapid rate in the future. Some of the major automotive players, for example Hero Electric Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, have entered the industry of late.

Hence, with the growth in the count of organized players, e-rickshaws on roads will grow, driving the growth of the electric rickshaw motor and controller market in India.

The government gives subsidies for e- rickshaws to boost their acceptance in the country, because of the increasing level of vehicular pollution, caused by the hurling of the conventional vehicles on the roads of the country.
